Vision Statements
Section titled “Vision Statements”Vision statements are powerful motivational tools that help you stay focused on your goals. VisionFocus displays your vision whenever you try to visit a blocked website, reminding you why you’re choosing to focus.
What is a Vision Statement?
Section titled “What is a Vision Statement?”A vision statement is a short, personal message that describes:
- Your daily goal or intention
- What you want to accomplish today
- Why you’re choosing to avoid distractions
- Your motivation for staying focused
When a website is blocked, your vision statement appears front and center, helping you reconnect with your purpose.
Creating Your First Vision
Section titled “Creating Your First Vision”- Click the VisionFocus icon in your Chrome toolbar
- Navigate to the “Vision” tab
- Type your vision statement in the text field
- Click “Save Vision”
Your vision is now active and will be displayed on all blocked pages.
Example Vision Statements
Section titled “Example Vision Statements”Here are some examples to inspire you:
- “Today I will complete my product roadmap and prepare for tomorrow’s meeting.”
- “I’m building my dream business one focused hour at a time.”
- “My family deserves my full attention when I get home.”
- “I choose deep work over shallow distractions.”
Editing Your Vision
Section titled “Editing Your Vision”You can update your vision statement at any time:
- Open VisionFocus
- Go to the “Vision” tab
- Edit the text in the vision field
- Click “Save Vision”
The updated vision will immediately appear on blocked pages.
Vision Display on Blocked Pages
Section titled “Vision Display on Blocked Pages”When you try to visit a blocked website, you’ll see:
- Your vision statement - Displayed prominently at the top
- The blocked URL - So you know what triggered the block
- Options to continue - Buttons to go back or override (if enabled)
This moment of reflection helps you make conscious choices about your time and attention.
Writing Effective Vision Statements
Section titled “Writing Effective Vision Statements”Keep It Personal
Section titled “Keep It Personal”Write in first person (“I will…” or “I am…”) to make it feel more personal and actionable.
Be Specific
Section titled “Be Specific”Instead of “be more productive,” try “complete 3 client proposals by 5pm.”
Focus on Why
Section titled “Focus on Why”Connect to your deeper motivation: “I’m saving for my daughter’s education” is more powerful than “I need to work.”
Use Present or Future Tense
Section titled “Use Present or Future Tense”Frame your vision as happening now or soon:
- “I am focused and productive”
- “I will finish this project today”
Keep It Concise
Section titled “Keep It Concise”Aim for 1-3 sentences. You should be able to read and absorb it in under 10 seconds.
Multiple Vision Statements (Premium)
Section titled “Multiple Vision Statements (Premium)”Premium subscribers can create and manage multiple vision statements for different contexts.
Managing Multiple Visions
Section titled “Managing Multiple Visions”VisionFocus Premium allows you to:
- Create multiple vision presets for different situations (work, study, personal)
- Switch between visions based on your current focus
- Schedule specific visions for different times of day or days of the week
Navigate to the “Vision” tab to access vision preset management and scheduling features.
Example Use Cases
Section titled “Example Use Cases”- Work Vision: “I’m delivering my best work for my clients today”
- Personal Vision: “I’m investing in my health and relationships”
- Study Vision: “I’m building the skills that will change my life”
- Evening Vision: “I’m present with my family and recharging for tomorrow”
Tips for Maximum Impact
Section titled “Tips for Maximum Impact”Update Daily
Section titled “Update Daily”Refresh your vision each morning to match your current priorities and energy.
Test It Out
Section titled “Test It Out”Try blocking a site and viewing your vision. Does it resonate? Does it motivate you? Adjust if needed.
Combine with Timers
Section titled “Combine with Timers”Use vision statements alongside focus timers for even more powerful productivity sessions.
Review and Refine
Section titled “Review and Refine”At the end of each week, review your visions. Which ones helped you most? Which need updating?
