Using Timers
Section titled “Using Timers”VisionFocus includes a powerful timer feature designed to help you maintain focus and manage your time effectively. Whether you’re using the Pomodoro Technique or setting custom focus sessions, timers can significantly enhance your productivity.
Setting Up a Focus Timer
Section titled “Setting Up a Focus Timer”Basic Timer Setup
Section titled “Basic Timer Setup”- Click the VisionFocus icon in your Chrome toolbar
- Navigate to the “Timer” tab
- Set your desired focus duration (e.g., 25 minutes)
- Click “Start Timer”
Once started, the timer will count down and notify you when your focus session is complete.
Customizing Timer Duration
Section titled “Customizing Timer Duration”- Short sessions: 15-20 minutes for quick tasks
- Standard sessions: 25 minutes (classic Pomodoro)
- Deep work: 45-90 minutes for complex tasks
Choose a duration that matches your task complexity and personal focus capacity.
Using VisionFocus with the Pomodoro Technique
Section titled “Using VisionFocus with the Pomodoro Technique”The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that breaks work into focused intervals. You can use VisionFocus’s timer to practice this technique.
Classic Pomodoro Cycle
Section titled “Classic Pomodoro Cycle”- Work Phase: Set a 25-minute timer for focused work
- Short Break: Take a 5-minute break when the timer ends
- Repeat: Complete 4 work phases
- Long Break: Take a 15-30 minute break after 4 cycles
Implementing Pomodoro with VisionFocus
Section titled “Implementing Pomodoro with VisionFocus”- Set your timer to 25 minutes
- Click “Start Timer” and focus on your task
- When the notification appears, manually start a 5-minute break timer
- After your break, reset the timer for your next work session
- Track your completed cycles manually
Pro Tip: Combine VisionFocus’s blocking feature during work phases to eliminate distractions. You can adjust your blocklist during breaks if needed.
Timer Notifications
Section titled “Timer Notifications”VisionFocus keeps you informed about your focus sessions through notifications.
Notification Types
Section titled “Notification Types”- Timer Start: Confirmation when your focus session begins
- Timer End: Alert when your session is complete
- Break Reminder: Notification to take your scheduled break
Managing Notifications
Section titled “Managing Notifications”- Open VisionFocus settings
- Navigate to “Notifications”
- Toggle notification types on/off
Note: Make sure browser notifications are enabled for VisionFocus in your Chrome settings.
Timers and Focus Tracking
Section titled “Timers and Focus Tracking”VisionFocus tracks your browsing activity during timer sessions, giving you insights into your focus quality.
What Gets Tracked
Section titled “What Gets Tracked”- Time on task: Total time spent in your focus session
- Sites visited: Websites accessed during the timer
- Distraction count: Number of times you visited blocked sites
Viewing Your Stats
Section titled “Viewing Your Stats”- Complete a timer session
- Go to the “Stats” tab
- Review your focus metrics
- Identify patterns and improvement areas
This data helps you understand your focus habits and make adjustments for better productivity.
Advanced Timer Tips

Section titled “Combining Timers with Blocking”For maximum effectiveness:
- Create a blocklist of distracting sites
- Start your focus timer
- Your blocked sites remain blocked during your session
This creates a distraction-free environment tailored to your work sessions.
Troubleshooting

Section titled “Timer Not Starting”- Check that VisionFocus is enabled
- Refresh the extension by clicking the icon
- Try restarting Chrome
Missing Notifications

- Ensure “Do Not Disturb” mode is off
Timer Stops Unexpectedly

- Update VisionFocus to the latest version
